10 WAYS TO SAVE MONEY WHILE TRAVELING

Traveling doesn't have to be expensive! Here are a few tips we've found that have helped us save a few dollars while abroad!

1.) If you stay at a hotel or AirBnb for more than one night, they will give you discounts.

2.) Spending a more time in a few places rather than rushing through and seeing everything! This will cut back on your transportation costs, save you some money by staying in the same accommodation and getting small discounts, etc. In addition to this, you will be able to relax and fully appreciate the area you're visiting.

3.) Talk to the locals and go to the small family restaurants and shops they suggest. Restaurants recommended by locals are often cheaper than tourist targeted areas, and you will get the true local experience! However, only do this if you feel safe. You don't want to end up in a bad neighbourhood, so use caution and follow your stomach.

4.) Booking flights mid-week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) are often less expensive than weekend travel.

5.) If you have to travel long distances, booking and sleeping on an overnight flight, train, bus or ferry - you will save on hotels, while also getting you to your destination.

6.) Taking public transit such as trains, and busses, walking and sharing taxi with other tourists- you will cut costs immensely!

7.)  Eat out for breakfast and lunch, but eat in at dinner. Dinner is the most expensive meal of the day! Instead, try visiting a grocery store or corner shop and pick up some sandwich items to make your own.

8.) People expect you to bargain for prices in tourist areas! If you're in a market, don't be afraid to bargain with the shop keeper!
